Seahorse Class Teacher: Sam McLuckie
I attended Portsmouth University and qualified, in 2010, with a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science. I had always maintained an interest in education and was fortunate enough to teach PE at Downside Middle School for a year before it was closed. Subsequently, I completed a one year Graduate Teacher Programme on the Isle of Wight and gained full qualified teacher status in 2011. Following on from my GTP experience, I taught a year 2/3 class at Weston Primary Academy for two academic years. I found the experience incredibly rewarding, but looked forward to a change in my educational career. I always harboured an interest in special education and a desire to learn and work in one. Therefore, I was delighted to be offered the role of class teacher at Medina House School and look forward to continuing my career and personal progression over the coming years in such a brilliant working environment.
I maintain a range of varied interests outside of school, when I have the time! For example, I am a keen artist and regularly take time to paint at home. Additionally, I am keen to keep myself fit, when not injured I like to participate in amateur football or regular trips to the gym. Finally, I am a keen music lover and am trying, somewhat unsuccessfully, to teach myself how to play guitar.
