Starfish Commemorate Remembrance Day

Monday, November 19th, 2018

On Friday 9th November the whole school took part in a special outside assembly to commemorate remembrance day. As it was 100 years since the war ended we wanted to have a permanent feature to remind us. Jane Oliver dug out part of the bank on the field in the shape of a cross and planted cyclamen which were supplied by Haylands Farm. The children then all planted crocus bulbs, which should flower in a couple of weeks. The last post was played and as a mark of respect we had a few moments of silence after which some of the children released balloons. Attached to each balloon was a list of names of people that lost their lives during the war.
