Penguin Class Teacher: Michelle Withall
What can I tell you about myself? I am a mother with 3 children and always wanted to make a difference in life. I started my teaching career in 1996 in an inner-London primary school where most of the children had English as a second language. After five years I moved to an Infant School where I ran a 120 place nursery and taught in the year group’s reception, year 1 and year 2. I taught in this school for over 10 years before moving with my family to the Isle of Wight. I then went on supply for two terms before starting my job at Medina House. I was interested in teaching children with special needs as I had experienced teaching a variety of children with varying difficulties and wanted to learn more on how I could help them to succeed and do their best.
Some fun facts about things I have done while teaching:
- I have dressed up as a Telly Tubby, Witch, one of the Queen of Heart’s playing cards and the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
- During one of the summer fairs I was in the line-up of school staff that was covered with custard pies.
- I was on the winning team in tug of war on sports day.
- In one of the Christmas shows I participated in the play by dressing up as a great big star.
