Governing Board
Welcome from Chair of Governors
The Governing Body is committed to working closely with the Headteacher and all staff to ensure that your child will receive the best possible quality of education in a safe and caring environment.
If you need to speak to any member of the Governing Body about any issue, please contact the school in the first instance. We will try to make sure that you are kept informed about work that the school is doing and the progress we are making.
Our vision is that Medina House School should be an outstanding school and become a centre of excellence for all the Island’s children with special educational needs. In order to achieve this we must all — parents / carers, staff, members of the Governing Board and other agencies that support us – work together in a special partnership with the progress and well-being of children at the centre of everything we do.
So, welcome to a very special partnership that we hope you will enjoy for many years to come.

Jez Robinson
Chair of Governing Body/ Finance linked governor/ Member of Teaching and Learning Committee.
Co-opted Governor
For 13 years, up until 2018, I ran a medium sized charity and social enterprise in London which provided employment for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. Moving to the island full time to spend more time with my family, I trained as a primary teacher and am currently a Year 6 teacher at the Priory School in Whippingham.
Alongside my teaching, I run UCanPlay, a sports coaching company.
I am passionate about improving the life opportunities for all people, but especially those that face additional challenges. I hope that this, in combination with my business skills and educational experience, enable me to positively contribute to the overall leadership and direction of Medina House School.

Co-Opted Governor
My love of working with special needs pupils first started in 1975. As a newly qualified teacher I secured a temporary post teaching the youngest pupils at Watergate School (now St Georges) then an all age school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties. In 2001 I transferred to Medina House School as it had become the primary school for SEND pupils. I then went on to spend the rest of my teaching career happily working at the school watching it grow from a small school for 40 pupils to the school it has now become. Since retirement in 2014 I have felt very fortunate to continue to be part of the working life of the school as a Governor. This has given me the opportunities to visit and observe all the hard work of dedicated staff and pupils in school and at the same time I can continue to be a part of the important decision making for a school that has been important to me for so many years.
